Duration: Approximately 14–16 months

About the Business
Our client is a growing financial advice and wealth management business based in Plymouth.
They are building a modern, technology-led business with a strong focus on marketing, client experience, content and the intelligent use of AI.
As a small and ambitious organisation, this is an opportunity to work closely with the business owner and gain exposure to a much broader range of marketing activities than you may experience within a large marketing department.
About the Role
We are looking for a Marketing Apprentice who is curious, proactive and comfortable learning new things.
This is an entry-level position, so you are not expected to arrive knowing everything. You will receive training and support both from your employer and through your apprenticeship.
However, because this is a small business, the role would suit somebody who enjoys taking initiative rather than waiting for detailed instructions for every task.
You will be encouraged to research unfamiliar topics, experiment with new technology, use tools such as AI to support your learning and bring ideas back into the business.
As your confidence and knowledge develop, you will gradually take greater ownership of marketing projects and campaigns.
Duties & Responsibilities
You will gain experience across a broad range of marketing activities, including:
· Creating and repurposing content for social media, email, websites and other digital channels
· Supporting organic social media activity across platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube
· Helping develop and manage paid advertising campaigns across platforms such as Meta and Google
· Creating email campaigns, newsletters and customer nurture sequences
· Using CRM systems to manage marketing activity, leads and customer journeys
· Researching competitors, audiences, marketing trends and campaign ideas
· Using marketing data and analytics to understand what is working and identify opportunities for improvement
· Exploring how AI and automation can improve marketing processes and reduce repetitive administration
· Experimenting with new marketing tools, software and technologies
· Supporting wider marketing campaigns and commercial projects across the business
AI will form an important part of the role. This could include using tools for research, content development, analysis, organisation, automation and improving internal marketing processes.
You do not need to be a programmer or already understand every platform mentioned above. The employer is much more interested in somebody who is comfortable learning how new tools work and trying to solve problems.
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for somebody who:
· Has the right to work in the UK
· Has achieved at least Grade 4/C or above in GCSE English Language
· Is ideally educated to degree level in synergistic areas, although strong alternative experience or personal projects will also be considered
· Has a genuine interest in marketing, business and technology
· Already uses AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or similar regularly, including for research, learning, problem-solving or more detailed project work
· Has some experience using image editing or design software, such as Canva, Photoshop or Illustrator
· Has some experience creating or editing video content, using tools such as CapCut or similar
· Can communicate clearly and professionally in written English
· Is organised, proactive and comfortable researching unfamiliar topics independently
· Is confident learning new software and taking increasing ownership of their own work
This is an entry-level apprenticeship, so you are not expected to know everything from day one. However, you should already be comfortable using AI and technology as part of how you learn, research and solve problems.
Desirable Experience
Previous professional marketing experience is not required, but it would be useful if you have experience with any of the following:
· Social media content
· Websites or landing pages
· Automation tools such as Zapier or Make
· Platforms such as Google Sheets, Notion or Airtable
· Personal projects, small businesses or other self-directed work
These are all nice to have rather than essential. The employer is more interested in somebody who is curious, capable and willing to learn than somebody who already has extensive marketing experience.
Recruitment Process
As part of the recruitment process, candidates progressing beyond the initial screening stage will be asked to complete a short practical task before the final shortlist is submitted. This is designed to understand how you approach research, problem-solving and the use of tools such as AI, rather than to test existing professional marketing knowledge.
The Apprenticeship
Alongside your role, you will complete the Level 3 Multi-Channel Marketer Apprenticeship with The Marketing Trainer.
Your training will cover areas including:
· Marketing campaigns
· Content marketing
· Customer understanding
· Marketing data and analytics
· Digital channels
· PPC and SEO
· Email marketing
· AI and emerging technology
The programme also includes the CIM Foundation Certificate.
This is an opportunity to join a small business where you can see how marketing, technology, customer experience and commercial decision-making fit together, while gradually developing the confidence to take ownership of your own projects.
