This privacy notice explains how The Marketing Trainer collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you use this website (www.themarketingtrainer.co.uk) or otherwise deal with us.

Who we are

The Marketing Trainer is a trading name of Game-On Coaching Limited (company number 09946328), Office 3 Little Heath Industrial Estate, Old Church Road, Coventry, United Kingdom, CV6 7NB. We are the "data controller" for the personal information described in this notice.

The law we follow

We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, together with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). We follow the core data-protection principles: we handle your data lawfully, fairly and transparently; collect it only for specified purposes; keep it accurate; hold only what we need; retain it no longer than necessary; and keep it secure.

Key definitions

  • "We", "us" and "our" mean Game-On Coaching Limited, trading as The Marketing Trainer. "You" means the person using this website or dealing with us.

The personal data we collect

We only collect what we need for the purposes below. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

  • Enquiries and "Book a call" requests — your name, email address, organisation, phone number, the nature of your enquiry and any message you send us.
  • Prospectus / brochure requests — your name, email address, organisation and phone number.
  • Apprenticeship applications — your name, email address, phone number, links you provide (for example a portfolio or LinkedIn profile), your message, and any CV you choose to upload. A CV may contain further information such as your education, employment history, skills and other details you include.
  • Correspondence — information you give us by email, phone or other contact.
  • Website usage — if you consent to analytics cookies, limited information about how you use the site (see "Cookies and analytics" below and our Cookie Policy).
  • Marketing subscribers — if you sign up for our updates, the contact details you provide for that purpose.

We do not deliberately collect special category data through this website. Please do not include sensitive personal information in free-text fields or CVs unless it is necessary.

Why we use your data, and our lawful bases

Under the UK GDPR we rely on one or more of the following lawful bases:

  • Consent — for analytics cookies and for optional marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Steps prior to, and performance of, a contract — to process apprenticeship applications and to deliver our training services.
  • Legitimate interests (including "recognised legitimate interests" under the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025) — to respond to your enquiries, to send you the information you have requested, to match candidates to suitable vacancies, to keep our systems secure and to run our business. Where we rely on legitimate interests we balance them against your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where we must keep records to meet our legal, regulatory or apprenticeship-funding obligations.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary:

  • Employers — where you apply for, or ask to be matched to, an apprenticeship vacancy, we share the relevant application details (which may include your CV) with the prospective employer offering that opportunity, so they can consider you.
  • Our service providers (processors), who act on our instructions under contract, including: our website hosting provider (Railway); our database and file-storage provider (Supabase); our transactional email provider (Resend); Google (Google Analytics, only if you consent to analytics cookies); and our email-marketing provider (Mailchimp, for subscribers).
  • Regulators, funding bodies and authorities — where required to meet our legal or apprenticeship-funding obligations, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

International transfers

Some of our providers (for example Google) may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data-protection law, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections, to keep your data protected to UK standards.

How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this notice, to provide our services, and to meet our legal, regulatory and apprenticeship-funding obligations. When it is no longer needed we securely delete or anonymise it. CV files are stored securely and access is restricted to the people who need them.

How we keep your data secure

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, access controls, and restricting CV and application files to authorised staff only. While no online service can be guaranteed completely secure, we take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us.

Your rights

Under UK data-protection law you have the right to:

  • be informed about how your data is used;
  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
  • have your data erased in certain circumstances;
  • restrict our processing of your data;
  • data portability;
  • object to processing (including direct marketing); and
  • not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

Automated decision-making

We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing without human involvement.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to make the site work, and — only if you accept — Google Analytics to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Marketing emails

If you subscribe to our updates, we rely on your consent and use Mailchimp, an email-marketing provider, to send them. These messages may contain tracking that records activity such as opens and clicks so we can understand engagement. Every marketing email includes an easy way to unsubscribe, and you can opt out or update your preferences at any time. We handle marketing in line with the UK GDPR and PECR.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first at info@themarketingtrainer.co.uk so we can look into it. We operate an internal complaints process and will acknowledge and respond to your concern without undue delay. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at any time, though we would welcome the chance to resolve things first.

We may update this notice from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The current version, with its effective date, is always available on this page.
