What is The Marketing Trainer’s Ofsted rating?
The Marketing Trainer — the trading name of Game-On Coaching Limited (UKPRN 10092406, Ofsted URN 2804850) — was inspected by Ofsted on 19 May 2026 and judged to reach the Strong standard for Achievement and the Strong standard for Curriculum and teaching, with all other areas at the Expected standard and safeguarding standards met. We are an independent apprenticeship training provider delivering the Multi-channel marketer (level 3) and Market research executive (level 4) apprenticeship standards remotely across England.
There is no “Good” or “Outstanding” to report, because those grades no longer exist. For inspections from November 2025, Ofsted’s report cards replaced the single-word overall grades (Outstanding, Good, Requires improvement, Inadequate) with a five-point scale applied to each area separately. Strong standard is the second-highest of the five, and Ofsted defines it as leaders are working above the standard expected of them.
What do Ofsted’s grades mean now?
Ofsted’s report cards use five grades. 2 of our 5 graded areas reached Strong standard; 3 reached Expected standard.
Ofsted defines Strong standard as leaders are working above the standard expected of them, and Expected standard as leaders are fulfilling the standard set out in legislation and professional expectations.
What did Ofsted judge in each area?
Six areas in total. Safeguarding is reported as met or not met; the other five are graded on the scale above.
| Area | Grade |
|---|---|
| Safeguarding | Standards met |
| Achievement | Strong standard |
| Curriculum and teaching | Strong standard |
| Participation and development | Expected standard |
| Inclusion | Expected standard |
| Leadership and governance | Expected standard |
What did Ofsted say about achievement?
Judged Strong standard. What inspectors found about the progress and outcomes our apprentices achieve.
“Apprentices make excellent progress from their starting points.”
Inspectors found achievement rates to be very high, including for apprentices facing barriers to learning, and noted that a high proportion achieve a distinction grade. They judged assessed work to be of very high quality, routinely exceeding the level of study.
“Apprentices become proficient in search engine optimisation, leading to measurable improvements in employers’ revenue and brand presence.”
On progression, inspectors reported that a very high proportion of apprentices move confidently into sustained employment, with many advancing rapidly into positions of increased responsibility.
Inspectors judged the years up to the inspection. Our own figures for 2025/26 — a 89.5% achievement rate against a 65% national average, with 62% of achievers awarded a distinction — are published in full on how we performed in 2025/26.
What did Ofsted say about curriculum and teaching?
Judged Strong standard. What inspectors found about how the programme is designed and taught.
“Trainers are subject specialists in marketing who provide high-quality teaching.”
Inspectors recognised the decision to embed chartered standard qualifications into the apprenticeship as a deliberate act of curriculum enrichment — describing leaders as acting decisively to strengthen apprentices’ learning experiences, for example by embedding chartered standard qualifications. As a CIM Approved Study Centre, we build CIM qualifications directly into the apprenticeship standard, so apprentices finish with both.
They also noted careful sequencing of core content alongside tailored learning in areas such as data analysis, influencer marketing and social media strategy, with frequent input from sector professionals keeping the curriculum aligned to emerging trends.
What did Ofsted say about leadership, inclusion and wider development?
Each judged at the Expected standard, with three next steps we publish in full below.
“Leaders provide ambitious, specialist training in marketing.”
Inspectors found that leaders work highly effectively with employers and industry specialists to design curriculums meeting precise industry requirements, aligning content to employers’ specific job descriptions — and reported that employers are highly satisfied with the training offered. On inclusion, they found needs identified accurately through established screening, with targeted adjustments such as regular check-ins, flexible deadlines and assistive speech and writing tools.
What Ofsted asked us to improve
We’re publishing the next steps in full, because they matter as much as the judgements:
- Continue enhancing professional development for trainers so they further strengthen their teaching skills.
- Extend staff development so staff are well prepared to support apprentices with a wider range of learning barriers and more complex needs.
- Offer apprentices a larger range of opportunities to develop personal and social responsibility, including meaningful contributions to their communities.
Each of these is now tracked in our quality improvement plan.
What is it like to be an apprentice here?
“Apprentices highly value the training they receive.”
Inspectors reported that apprentices make sustained and rapid progress, develop cutting-edge marketing skills, and are held in high regard by employers for their technical ability and professionalism. They found a very high proportion attain distinction grades, with almost all progressing to a destination matching their aspirations.
Facts and figures
The data inspectors used at the time of inspection.
- Apprentices in learning
- 41, of whom 8 were aged 16 to 18
- Apprenticeship standard
- At the time of inspection, all 41 apprentices in learning were studying Multi-channel marketer (level 3). We are also approved to deliver, and do deliver, Market research executive (level 4).
- Delivery
- All training online, working with employers nationally
- Achievement rate 2024/25
- 100% — every apprentice due to complete in 2024/25 achieved their apprenticeship. The national average for the same year was 65%.This figure appears as “S” in the published report card rather than as a number. That is not a gap in our performance: the DfE suppresses published achievement rates where cohorts are small enough that individual learners could be identified, and Ofsted mirrors that suppression. We publish our own figure here so you can judge it in context. Ofsted’s independent judgement on Achievement — reached through inspection rather than published data — was Strong standard.
