Hire a marketing apprentice in Derby

We help Derby employers recruit and train marketing talent. Teaching is delivered remotely, so your apprentice stays in your office rather than losing a day a week to a campus.

Derby's economy is built on engineering — rail, aerospace and automotive, and the long supply chain of technical businesses that sits underneath them. Those businesses tend to have a genuinely good product, a specialist market, and marketing that nobody has ever really owned. It gets picked up by an operations manager, or an agency that never quite learns the product.

An apprentice is the way to bring it in-house without hiring at a level the role does not yet justify.

This works well for Derby employers who are

  • Rail, aerospace and automotive suppliers with a technical product and no one to explain it to a non-technical buyer
  • Manufacturers whose marketing is a trade-show stand, a brochure and not much else
  • Professional services firms competing for the same clients as much larger Nottingham and Birmingham practices
  • Larger sites and head offices with an apprenticeship levy balance going unspent

We are in Coventry — does that matter?

No. Teaching is delivered remotely across England, so the distance between Derby and our Coventry base makes no difference to how your apprentice is trained: no travel, no day release, no campus. What is local is the recruitment, and we source across the Midlands including the East Midlands.

Recruitment is included

We source and shortlist candidates for you at no cost. See who is currently looking near your postcode on the talent matching page — matched on distance from your business, updated weekly.

What your apprentice learns

Our Multi-Channel Marketer apprenticeship covers marketing theory, understanding your customer, marketing planning, campaign management with data analysis, marketing tactics including website, SEO and email, content creation, branding and marketing sustainability — with a Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification embedded at no extra cost. See the full twelve-month journey.

Paying the levy?

Derby has an unusual concentration of employers well over the £3m pay bill threshold. Unspent funds now expire after 12 months rather than 24 — see how to spend your apprenticeship levy.

What it costs

For apprentices under 25, the training is 100% government-funded — you pay nothing towards it. For apprentices aged 25 and over, it's 95% funded. Depending on who you hire, you may also qualify for hiring incentives worth thousands, including the Youth Jobs Grant.

The three worked examples on what a marketing apprentice costs will give you a figure in about a minute, or we can give you exact numbers for your business on a call.

About the provider

The Marketing Trainer is the trading name of Game-On Coaching Limited (company number 09946328), listed on the Apprenticeship Provider and Assessment Register under UKPRN 10092406 and approved by the Chartered Institute of Marketing to deliver its qualifications.

We are an approved CIM apprenticeship provider and embed the CIM Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Marketing into the Multi-channel marketer (level 3) apprenticeship, so apprentices finish with both the apprenticeship and a Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification.
